Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! Norton Elementary and Middle School prides itself in being a place that supports the growth of every student, every day. We want all students to experience success and to have a purposeful connection to our faculty and staff. Our school will provide the academic and social-emotional supports that our students require as we reach out to support them through academics, sports, community involvement, and extra-curricular activities. Please encourage your student to get involved and stay connected. We want all parents and guardians to feel supported at the school and encourage parents and guardians to call the school to access resources and to inquire about the progress of your student.

This is my fourth year as principal of Norton Elementary and Middle School. In my time here I have worked with our staff to ensure that we continue to be one of the strongest schools in Virginia. We not only continue to be fully accredited by the state of Virginia but have achieved some of the highest Standards of Learning (SOL) scores in the state. Our faculty is committed to challenging students to reach levels of academic success that they never thought possible. At the same time, this is our city and we are proud to be here. I believe together we can make Norton a beacon to southwest Virginia. We promote values of Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Determination, Empathy, and Responsibility. Our character education is laying a foundation to ensure that our city is built upon solid citizens with a heart for each other. Our goal is to always do The Right Things, The Right Way, The Raider Way.

There is no option but to achieve excellence in the classroom and in our community! It is an honor to be a Norton Elementary and Middle School Raider. I hope that you are as committed as we are to high achievement for all students.
